Devon U11 Squash Championship

It's a win for Ralph at the Devon U11 Squash Championship

Exeter Golf and Country Club entered a very eager group of young squash players to the Devon U11s Squash Championships. Six players representing the Exeter Golf and Country Club travelled to the Devon and Exeter Squash Club over the weekend, where over 60 of Devon’s best junior squash players were in action.

Ellie Sharpe, the only girl entering her age group, battled well against some very strong U13s and came 5th overall.  Albie Hill, lost out tot the eventual winner and finished 3rd in the U13s.

Ralph van Zijl and Harry Brown were both in the U11s.  Ralph won all of his four matches and came 1st in the U11s, whilst Harry won 3 of 4 and finished 3rd!

In the U9s, we had William Yeo and Emily Brown, both entering their first ever tournament!  Emily came 2nd and William, 3rd!

Exeter Golf and Country Club have a great crop of players in the younger categories and this is growing steadily!  A successful weekend, means that some of these juniors will go on to represent Devon in the inter-county championships later in the season.

Men’s Squash Captain, Luke van Zijl said, “A big thank you to the coaches (and all of the parents!), plus all staff at the Devon and Exeter Squash Club for a fabulous weekend of junior squash!”
