Golf Captains Drive-In
The eagerly awaited Captain’s Drive-In on Sunday 29th March heralded the start of the new golf season. With a full field of golfers ready for a shotgun start the fun started at 9am. Following the golf, at the well attended pre lunch drinks in Wear Park, the tension was building nicely for our 2026 Captains, Justin Powlesland and Claire Baillie, as the eagerly awaited tradition of the Captain’s Drive-In beckoned.
The big moment did not disappoint with Claire striping her drive to leave Justin the unenviable task of following that! Donning his skippers cap he stepped up, and doing his best to ignore the lively banter from the watching crowd, smashed his drive. An impressive combined distance of 399 yards recorded.
Congratulations on the day to the men’s team winners of Jamie Broom, Simon House and Andy Rockey and the mixed team winners of Charles Kislingbury, Tom Baillie, Alison Crooks and Adele Needham. Both teams carding 62 points
The Captains expressed their sincere thanks to the members who raised, on the day, over £1,000 for the chosen charity, Balloons.
