Three Pro-Ams for 2023 – Men’s, Ladies’ and Juniors

For the first time ever, Exeter Golf and Country Club is hosting three Pro-Ams this summer – a Men’s Pro-Am, a Ladies’ Pro-Am and a Junior Pro-Am. While the Ladies’ and Men’s events are fundraising events, the Junior event is being organised to give junior golfers the chance to play competitively alongside a professional golfer to gain valuable experience on the course.

Darren Everett, Director of Golf said, “We are really excited to be organising these three major events this year. We think Exeter Golf and Country Club is the only club in England to host individual men’s, women’s and junior Pro-Am events. Welcoming golfers from across Devon and the South West, the three Pro-Ams will showcase our golf course confirming our position as the region’s premier golf club.”

If you are interested in entering any of the Pro-Am events, please contact Darren Everett at the Pro Shop – darren.everett@exetergcc.co.uk.

Here’s a guide to the Exeter Golf and Country Club Pro-Am events.

Junior Pro-Am
Thursday 27th July

This unique event last took place over 10 years ago. The Junior Pro-Am is aimed at young amateur golfers, providing the opportunity to team up with a PGA Professional to give them the experience of a professional golf tournament and all that surrounds it. Some juniors will eventually move forward with their playing careers and turn professional so this gives them a great grounding for what a professional tournament feels like. Played as a team event with 3 juniors and a professional, the professional also plays an individual round. Our aim is for golf clubs in Devon and Cornwall to support their junior golfers by either paying for or contributing to the cost of the team entry fee.

Ladies Pro-Am
Tuesday 16th May

Now in its 15th year, the Ladies’ Pro-Am is always a very popular event. Teams of 3 ladies will tee off with a PGA Professional to play in a team event with the professional also playing an individual event. Money raised on the day will go towards the Ladies’ Golf Captain’s Charity of the year. which is the RD&E Charity this year. In excess of £30k has been raised since the event started, making it one of the most successful fundraisers in the golf calendar. There is always a fantastic amateur prize fund and plenty of nearest the pin prizes etc to play for.

Men’s Pro-Am
Saturday 9th June

The Men’s Pro-Am is now in its 46th year. This event has raised over £300K for local charities and is one of the largest pro-ams in the country. With the support of many dedicated sponsors and members of Exeter Golf and Country Club, this always a fantastic day for both professionals and amateurs. Teams can be made up of any combination of 3 amateurs who will be accompanied by a PGA Professional. With a prize draw and evening entertainment, the event is always superbly organised by the pro-am committee. This year’s Men’s Pro-Am is raising funds for the RD&E Charity.
