Schools Rackets Festival

More than 30 primary aged children visited the tennis courts at Exeter Golf and Country Club for a Schools Rackets Skills Festival organised by the St Luke’s School Sport Partnership.

St Luke’s works with local schools to encourage them to engage in different activities.

Head of Rackets, James Temple is working with Countess Wear and other local schools to give children an introduction to playing tennis.

Reception and Year 1 pupils from Stoke Canon and Clyst Heath Primary Schools were invited to the club for an afternoon of tennis.

Led by leaders from Countess Wear Primary School, the juniors worked  through four stations developing their skills through a series of fun games.

James Temple said,”With the sun shining and Wimbledon on the horizon, it was a great opportunity for the kids to get out of the classroom and, for many of them, get their first experience of playing tennis.”

We are looking forward to developing our partnership with Countess Wear and welcoming their students to the Club in the new school year for their own tennis coaching sessions.”
