New Members’ Bar is coming soon

The next phase of the Exeter Golf and Country Club Development Plan gets underway on Monday 30th October when construction starts on a brand new Members’ Bar and Cafe.  The old Sports Bar will close and the area hoarded off while the work gets underway to transform the space, merging it with the area that was once old changing rooms and toilets. Access to the squash courts, gym and the Garden Pavilion will be available throughout the construction stage.

During the construction, the Garden Pavilion will become the main food and drink area for members, although Wear Park Restaurant will also be open for extended hours as well, ensuring there’s plenty of space for members while the new bar and cafe work is completed.

Zones for all our members

The new Member’s Bar and Cafe will be around twice the size of the current Sports Bar. The ‘L-shape’ design will seat up to 120, with an adult-only bar area, a ‘short-stay’ work-friendly area for members catching up on a bit of work over a coffee and cake, a large open plan cafe for all ages, plus a soft play area for under 5s.

New long bar for quicker service

The new bar will be 3x longer than the current bar, with half in the adults area and the other half stretching into the open cafe. Having this larger, ergonomically designed bar space, means a return to bar service in a much more efficient way, with faster service times, especially for drinks. The Garden Pavilion will continue to be table service – as will Wear Park Restaurant, which is also open to non-members.

Comfort and style from morning 'til night

Better lighting, comfortable seating and contemporary style are part of the plan to create an area members want to spend time with friends, family and other members, from breakfast through to dinner, as the place to go when coming off the course or courts or after classes and the gym.  A more open and accessible bar also means we can offer a better takeaway service for food and drink on the go, so if you need to head off to work after a gym session, you can grab coffee and breakfast quickly and easily.
