With summer over and autumn setting in, it’s the perfect time to get started on a new fitness plan. The new Couch to 5K Running Group is a great way to get more active in a safe, achievable way.
Couch to 5K is a running plan for beginners. The 9 week plan involves three runs a week – including one group run per week leaving from Exeter Golf and Country Club on Tuesdays at 6.15pm with our Personal Trainer and regular runner, Maria.
The Couch to 5K Group provides a structured start to running from scratch, along with a supportive network to help keep you going and progressing at the right pace. It’s easy to overdo it when starting new exercise, so the Couch to 5K plan ensures you don’t do too much too soon and then give up!
Starting with a mix of running and walking, you’ll gradually build up your fitness and stamina from running for just a minute at a time, to running the entire 5K by the end of the plan.
Maria’s Couch to 5K Group is free for all members – with just 8 spaces available.
Book your space for the 9 week plan via Reception or in the Gym.
The Couch to 5K group will run together once a week, but all runners will need to commit to running twice more each week, as per the plan which can be downloaded via the app.
Maria will set up a WhatsApp group to for support and advice, and to send in run times and share experiences.
Runners will need to arrive wearing sportswear suitable for running, including a pair of sports / running trainers (not fashion trainers), with a bottle of water.
Maria will meet the 8 new runners on Tuesday at 6:15pm at Reception.
