Meet the Club President and his Charity of the Year

Following on from last month’s Club AGM, Nick Rimmer has been settling into his new role as Club President for the year ahead.

Having been a member of the club since 1981, Nick has experienced all areas of the club, having played tennis, squash, racketball and golf, as well as regularly swimming and using the gym. He’s also been on the Board of Directors as well.

Nick’s Charity of the Year is ELF (Exeter Leukaemia Fund), which he chose due to losing his father-in-law to the illness 14 years ago.

Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) support patients and their families affected by blood cancer and related conditions that attend the ELF funded Haematology Centre at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Every week, hundreds of patients from across Devon are treated at the Centre. ELF is there to support them and their families both in the hospital and in the local community. ELF lightens the load, supporting families from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond. The support that we offer includes equipment, transport, accommodation, counselling, aromatherapy, financial and legal support. ELF is funded entirely, and relies on voluntary gifts from individuals, local businesses, and community organisations.

Gary Moore of ELF said, “We are extremely grateful to Nick for selecting us as the President’s charity of the year. If you would like to make a donation, please visit Donate | Exeter Leukaemia Fund (elfcharity.org.uk) and state ‘EGCC President’s Charity’ as the donor message to add to his fundraising efforts.’
