Welcome to Geoff Fidler and Vicki Rogers who were officially appointed Men’s and Ladies’ Golf Captain for 2023 at the Golf AGM in February.
Geoff and Vicki have chosen the RD&E Charity as their charity of the year and are planning fundraising events with a target of £20,000.
Based in Exeter, the RD&E Charity supports the city’s hospitals, community sites and at-home care services. Donations to the charity directly benefit patients, their families and the NHS staff, with wide ranging reach throughout our local community in the following ways:
Enhancing the patient and staff environment
Funding state-of-the-art equipment
Heightening the level of patient care
Supporting additional staff development and training
Advancing medical knowledge through research
Invest above and beyond what can be achieved with NHS funding
Why the RD&E Charity?
Having undergone cancer treatment and a radical prostatectomy twelve years ago, Geoff has experienced the care provided by the Oncology Team at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital first hand.
Unfortunately, during his time as the Men’s Vice Golf Captain, Geoff’s cancer reoccurred which required further treatment. It was then that he decided to show his appreciation of the hospital and staff by supporting them as his charity of the year.
Geoff said, “Throughout my time in radiotherapy I met many other cancer patients who were also being treated by the marvelous team of radiologists, and like myself, had nothing but praise and admiration for the staff who cared for us. I really wanted to give something back by raising funds to help further improve the facilities within the Oncology Department and together with the help of Vicki, we have set a target of £20,000.
I sincerely hope that you will be able to make a contribution to this very worthy cause. Any donation no matter how small, I can assure you, will make the biggest difference!”
Geoff and Vicki have a fundraising page for donations and sponsorship throughout their year.
