Ladies Pro Am raises over £2,700 for the RD&E Charity

The 15th Annual Ladies’ Pro Am event took place on Tuesday 16th May, fundraising for the RD&E Charity.

Report of the day by Vicki Rogers, Ladies Golf Captain:

“Our prayers for the weather on 16th May were answered!   On possibly the best day yet this season, our 15th Annual Ladies’ Pro-Am was played.

A small army of willing helpers served refreshments on 8th hole, with a delicious selection of cakes made many of our ladies, our wonderful Seniors were ball-spotting on the course, others gave up their time to be starters and with Nick Rimmer and Geoff Fidler meeting and greeting I am in no doubt that all 27 teams received a warm welcome.

There were lots of compliments on the condition of the course and organisation of the event; John Parr, Lisa Newbury, Darren’s team, the 2023 Ladies’ Pro-Am Committee and all those involved would be justified in feeling proud of how the day went.

Our home-grown Professional Ryan Pope shared thunderous applause with Jo Ferguson, from Tour Tech Golf, by finishing at the top of the PGA Leaderboard; both played a gross 65.  Jo Ferguson headed the leader board again, in taking three ladies from East Devon GC to 1st place in the team event.  A special mention to Ben Martin, Lyne Beevers, Jo Connolly and Debbie More who came in 6th and kept the Club name in the prizes.

There are so many who deserve a personal thank you, too many to list individually; our sponsors, Club staff,  2023 Ladies’ Pro-Am Committee, the many members who donated prizes for the raffle table and helped both on and off the course and not forgetting the appearance of Eddie the Elephant who kept us smiling.  My sincere thanks to all of you who worked so hard to make this event so special and raise the fantastic sum of £ 2,752.25 for the RD&E Charity.”
