Exeter Junior Golf Success
Sunday 29th March saw the start of the Regional Qualifiers for the much-coveted Faldos Futures national junior competition, at Churston Golf Club. As is normal, the competition saw juniors from all over Devon attend, to try to gain qualification by coming in the top two positions in their age category, to gain a place in the regional final later in May, before hopefully progressing once again to the national final, which is held at The Belfry in August.
Exeter Golf and Country Club junior members really shone through in the first of the competitions, with Oscar Bunt winning his 9-10 category with an impressive 3 over par, Ollie Delve came runner up in his 11-12 category, and Charlie Askew also hit an impressive round in his first ever competition to come runner up in his 7-8 age category.
A genuine well done to the three juniors, with hopefully more members to follow suit in the other Regional Qualifiers.
World Success for Oscar Bunt
Following an outstanding 2025 junior golf season, Exeter Golf and Country Club’s own Oscar Bunt (aged 10) has achieved international success after qualifying for the prestigious Daily Mail World Junior Golf Championships in Puerto Banús, Spain, held at the Villa Padierna Golf & Hotel Resort.
Oscar’s season already included local trophy wins, representing Devon at Under 12 and Under 14 level, and finishing 4th in the 2025 National Finals of the Faldo Futures at The Belfry. Competing on the Los Flamingos Championship Course in a 54-hole scratch event, Oscar finished an impressive 15th in his age category against players from 48 countries, posting rounds of 11, 8 and 10 over par.
He also enjoyed success in the World Adult-Junior competition, finishing 5th alongside his playing partner.
Congratulations to Oscar on his fantastic achievements, with his skill, etiquette, and sportsmanship earning praise from fellow competitors, parents, caddies, and organisers alike.
