Exeter Golf and Country Club and the Devon and Exeter Squash Club hosted the largest Squash Team event in the South West on Saturday 19th March, with 32 teams comprised of 3 players, each competing across both of the venues.
Results and report by Mike Harris, Head of Squash and Racketball:
A total of 288 individual matches took place across the day, with four different Grade titles being competed for. This event ran on an “every point counts” basis where the victorious side wasn’t necessarily the one who one the most ties but actually the most points overall out of the fixture.
In the end there were some fantastic matches across all the Grades, with quite a few of the ties coming down to the wire with a point or two difference either way. Congratulations to the finalists and the victors, some of whom managed to battle through as lower ranked sides.
After the draws were all completed the players all met at the Devon and Exeter Squash Club to watch the A Grade Final and for the post event presentations and food, plus a few very well earned beverages.
Due to the success of the event and the hugely positive feedback from the participants it will definitely run at the same time next year, hopefully in a bigger and better capacity!
Thanks to all who took part and to the Devon and Exeter Squash Club and Exeter Golf and Country Club for doing such a great job hosting the players and spectators through the day.
