EXETER'S PREMIUM GYM
& WELLNESS CLUb
INDEPENDENT | LIFESTYLE-LED | EXPERT COACHES
You can train at any gym in Exeter – but very few let you finish a strength session with a swim, unwind in the sauna, refuel with freshly prepared food, meet friends for coffee, stretch out in Pilates and book a deep tissue massage – all in one place.
At Exeter Golf and Country Club, fitness is more than an hour in the gym. It’s a place to train harder, recover better and enjoy the journey.
Whether you’re building strength, training for your first Hyrox event, preparing for a marathon, following a functional fitness programme or simply investing in your long-term health, you’ll find the space, coaching and community to help you keep progressing.
Because the best results don’t come from the hardest workout. They come from finding a place you’ll want to come back to.

TRAIN YOUR WAY
EXPERT COACHES | TOP QUALITY EQUIPMENT
No two members train for the same reason – everyone feels welcome to train for their own independent goals, but with the sense of community you get when you’re amongst people who’ve been coming here years.
Walk through our gym on any day and you’ll find people training for completely different reasons:
A Hyrox athlete shaving minutes off their time.
A bodybuilder chasing a new PB.
A runner building strength to stay injury-free.
A 17-year-old learning to lift with confidence.
A member in their seventies staying strong, mobile and independent.
None of them train the same way.
All of them belong here.
Our members range in age from 16 to over 90, creating a community that’s as diverse as it is welcoming. Whether you’re taking your first steps into fitness or have been training for decades, you’ll never feel out of place.

REST | RECOVER | REFUEL
WARNING - IT'LL TAKE OVER YOUR LIFE
Most people worry they’ll struggle to make it to the gym.
Our members have the opposite problem.
One workout turns into a swim. A quick coffee becomes lunch on the terrace. Before you know it, you’re back the next day for a class, a sauna or to catch up with friends. It’s a pretty good problem to have.

RE-FUEL, HYDRATE, RECHARGE at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
However your day looks, good food and drink should always be part of the plan.
Our team of chefs prepare fresh, real food from scratch, using local ingredients when possible. So whether you’re after something light, protein-packed, hearty or a favourite from the kids’ menu, you can expect food made with care.
Start with breakfast or brunch. Grab a coffee and pastry between plans, a smoothie after a workout or settle in for lunch with friends.
Then there’s afternoon tea when you have time to linger, a catch-up over coffee, drinks with colleagues or a table filled with family.
From the Members’ Bar and Garden Pavilion to Wear Park Restaurant, or even the Pool Hut during summer months, there are plenty of places across the club to eat, drink and stay awhile.
Good food. Good company. One more reason to stay.

TRAIN, PLAY, REPEAT at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
However you like to stay active, there’s always another way to move.
Strength and fitness in the gym. Fast rallies on the tennis and squash courts. Fairways, fresh air and 18 holes on the golf course. Lengths in the pool. Or a little of everything.
Because being active should be something you enjoy - and at Exeter Golf and Country Club, you can make it as varied as you like.
One club. So many ways to train and play.
...
RECOVER, REST, RESET at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
Training hard is only part of the picture. Recovery is where your body gets the chance to recharge, repair and come back stronger.
At Exeter Golf and Country Club, make time for the quieter side of your routine - from a swim and time in the jacuzzi to a spa treatment, a slow coffee or simply switching off for a while.
Because feeling your best isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes, it’s about knowing when to slow down.

We’ve had another hole-in-one on the 10th! This time, our congratulations go to Andy Bassett!
Andy’s ace was scored during the Oliver Flag Competition!
Well done! 🙌
...
Huge congratulations to Luke on an incredible performance at the AWPC World Powerlifting Championships 2026.
Competing in the Under 100kg T2 Classic Raw category, Luke - who’s only 17 - put together an impressive total:
170kg Squat
90kg Bench Press
180kg Deadlift
Luke has been training with us for the past 3–4 years, and it’s been brilliant to see how far he’s come. Over the last 18 months especially, Lum and Rich have really pushed his training forward, with Vince, Eleanor and Izzy also working with Luke during sessions.
A huge amount of work has gone into this - and at just 17, there’s plenty more to come. 👏💪
...
Congratulations to Nick Staddon who scored a hole in one on the 10th during Saturday’s Team Open! 👏 ...
Sometimes you just need to get in the pool and leave everything else at the side.
6 lengths or 60 lengths - each one helps to let everything else fade away - the overthinking, the negativity, the stress and all those problems that seemed so important before you got in the pool.
Every day is a new beginning. And sometimes, a swim is the reset you need.
Start again. One length at a time.

Whatever the reason for your early morning visit to the club, a sunrise like this is pretty hard to beat!
A huge thank you to Alice for sharing these beautiful photos from her morning gym session. Talk about the ultimate pre-workout boost!
Yes, there may be bigger gyms out there… but we’re pretty sure none of them have a view like this. ❤️

Dartmoor League - Tavistock vs Exeter
Exeter travelled to Tavistock on Sunday 6th September on a dry and not too windy day. The team knew every point was now vital with the league very tight and any two sides could yet suffer relegation.
Amongst the matches there were a few tight games in this encounter. A good win for Ben Reynolds and Anthony Cockayne and a draw from Steve Sheldon and Darren Thorpe. Unfortunately the other three pairings, of Simon Courtney/Paul Fielder , Mark Champion/Jeff Densham and Justin Powlesland/Ali Jack, ended in defeat meaning that the overall result was a 3.5 to 1.5 defeat for Exeter.
