The best way for children to begin playing golf and progress
Exeter Golf and Country Club’s, Junior Golf Academy, is a golf coaching programme for children and teenagers, offering structured, professional coaching. The junior programme is a 15 stage coaching pathway designed to help children learn, improve and enjoy the game of golf in a safe and supportive environment. Suitable for complete beginners through to experienced junior golfers, the Junior Golf Academy develops core skills, confidence and on-course understanding.
With expert coaching, regular progress tracking and age-appropriate sessions, the Junior Golf Academy provides parents with peace of mind and juniors with the foundations for long-term success in golf. Our PGA-qualified coaches leading the sessions, which focus on fundamental skills, confidence building, course awareness and long-term player development.Â
The course is with Pro Shop PGA trainee, Jack Jeffery – but sessions may be covered by other professional golf team members.Â

Saturday 17th January, 10am – 11am / 11am – 12pm
Prices
Month Subscription: £40 per 4 x week block
Drop-in rate: £15 per session

Development Pathway (Stages 1–10)
Introduction & Fundamentals
Learn golf safety, grip, stance and posture using shorter clubs.
Short Game Basics
Develop simple chipping skills with a focus on strike and control.
Putting Basics
Build solid putting setup, alignment and distance control.
Long Game Basics
Improve full swing contact, direction and distance consistency.
Rules, Etiquette & On-Course Basics
Understand golf rules, etiquette, pace of play and course behaviour.
Advanced Short Game
Play a variety of chip and bunker shots with improved control.
Advanced Putting
Enhance pace control, start line and putting consistency.
Advanced Long Game
Increase distance, accuracy and the ability to shape shots.
Scoring Zones
Develop wedge play inside 50 yards to improve scoring.
On-Course Readiness
Apply skills on the course with confident decision-making and basic strategy.
Performance Pathway (Stages 11–15)
Getting a Handicap
Complete 54 holes scored by a playing partner, on-course basics, rules, etiquette, scorecard marking – obtain first handicap
Consistency
Develop repeatable shots across long game, short game, and putting – consistent driving, irons, short game, putting; pre-shot routine; smart decision-making; performance awareness – complete a 9-hole consistency challenge:
Use pre-shot routine on all shots, maintain decision-making, ≤2 double bogeys, hit ≥3 greens, ≥6 holes with 2-putt or better
Course Management & Strategy
Decision-making and mistake reduction, target selection, risk assessment, create and execute a course strategy
Competition Ready
Mindset, preparation, routine, pre-shot routine, competitive mindset, complete a competition under target score or handicap
Performance Player Level
Tournament ability, stat tracking, performance goals, disciplined practic, compete at county level
