Devon and Somerset Junior Open!

75 junior golfers from across Devon and Somerset competed at Exeter Golf and Country Club on Sunday on a superbly presented course. There was a lot of incredible golf played despite the challenging weather.

Exeter Golf and Country Club Juniors were well represented with some standout performances:

Harry Delve won Division 2 with 41 stableford points

Oliver Delve was runner-up in Division 2 with 40 points

Olly Champion came 2nd in Division 1

Josh Murphy won the scratch event with a gross 70

Thank you to @porscheexeter for sponsoring the event, and to Vic and Mary Fox for providing fantastic halfway house support to all competitors.

Consistency in ball striking with your irons can completely change your game. When you consistently make solid contact, you gain better distance control, shot accuracy, and predictability - three things that directly lead to lower scores. You’re more likely to hit greens in regulation, avoid trouble like bunkers or hazards, and give yourself more birdie chances. It also builds confidence; when you trust your strike, you swing more freely and make better decisions. Simply put, consistent iron contact turns a round of survival into a round of scoring.

Two wins for our Women’s Golf Teams this weekend!

The Sheelah Creasey team had an excellent result in their home match against East Devon, coming away with a resounding win. Their captain, Maggie Wayte commented, ‘This was such a great team effort from everyone. The team is going from strength to strength with every match they play.’
Result – Exeter win - 4 ½ - ½.

This was followed up by an equally impressive result against the team from Woodbury. Maggie Wayte was full of praise for her team of the day, which included: Louise James, Jenny Garner, Linda Kingdon, Liz Turner, Gill Newbery, Jane Scoble and Lorna Brown.
Result – Exeter win 4 ½ - ½.
