GOLF NEWS - Well done to the Men`s Golf Team who are through to the quarter finals of the Parker Trophy 2025...

2nd Round v Holsworthy at Okehampton.

Parker Trophy is Devon’s Premier Men’s Scratch Foursomes Knockout Trophy, Exeter Golf and Country Club gained a bye for round 1 and so had drawn Holsworthy in Round 2. This tie didn’t need to be played until the 22nd June but with the season starting off very dry, Men’s Captain James Mullins, decided to play the tie as quickly as possible just in case Okehampton dried out anymore during the rest of April and into May.

Exeter started slowly and took a while to adjust to the conditions, the golf course layout and a very consistent Holsworthy team who were extremely competitive. All pairs were down in the first few holes but as the matches went on Exeter showed their experience in this format and towards the end of the round proved too much for Holsworthy in all matches. Lead pair Harrison Greenberry and Chris Haggar won 3 & 2, as did final pair Stuart Jose and Rodin Mackay. This meant that as Scott Collins and Alex Worthington started down the 17th , with the momentum in their favour, but the tie was over so a draw was called so we could have a well-earned victory drink and concentrate on the final day of the Masters!

The team pairings and result were as follows;

1. Harrison Greenberry and Chris Hagger – Won 3 & 2
2. Scott Collins and Alex Worthington – Halved
3. Stuart Jose and Rodin Mackay – Won 3 & 2

The next round is against Teignmouth or Bovey Tracy who play at Churston at some point before the 22nd June and doesn’t need to be played until 27th July so we’ve now got plenty of time to hone our games and get ready for the Quarter Finals.

Jacob Swain PT

Jacob joined Exeter Golf & Country Cub from CrossFit Pi, where he worked as a PersonalTrainer and CrossFit coach since 2017.

He says, “People often describe me as a relaxed and patient coach, which I think is a great reflection of who I am. I have a strong background in strength and conditioning, which I’ve developed through eight years of CrossFit training. I used to play football and basketball when I was younger, but more recently, I’ve discovered a passion for golf—although it’s quickly becoming an expensive hobby!”

Vince Mann

Health, mobility, endurance and mental wellness are the cornerstones of fitness for Vince. He is ex-military and a certified Elite Hatton Boxing Instructor and has competed in marathons, ultras and half marathons for over 30 years. 

He says, ‘Motivation, engagement and empowerment are essential key elements to assist you on your fitness and wellbeing journey. I’m passionate about running and love training beginners to advance runners, working on pace, stride gate, stamina, endurance and strength training.’

Lum Berisha

Lum has over 10 years of experience in the fitness industry in London and Exeter. He specialises in helping clients achieve their fitness goals—whether it’s losing weight, toning up or just getting fitter and stronger.

He says, ‘I take a personalized approach, working closely with you to create a plan that integrates the core principles of exercise and nutrition. My goal is to help you make simple, sustainable changes that fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. Along the way, I’ll equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to continue making progress long after our sessions together.’

Nick Rose

Nick has 13 years of experience as a personal trainer, having started as an apprentice, to now managing the gym.

Working with my clients, together we’ve hit multiple goals such as: losing weight, increasing strength to improving fitness and hitting PBs in cardiovascular events.

I enjoy changing clients mindset, where the confidence grows and after hitting our goals, we create more.

I have the GP Referral qualification, which makes me very comfortable with dealing with various health issues. I also have a history of conversing with osteopaths, physios and chiropractors to ensure the best care for my clients.

As a part-time personal trainer, I am passionate about helping others achieve their fitness goals. With a strong background in sports, particularly Gymnastics and Running, I bring a dynamic approach to training. My primary focus is on weight loss, toning and exercise rehabilitation, an area I’m currently studying to enhance and develop my expertise. I believe in creating personalised workout plans that not only promote physical fitness but also empower clients to lead healthier, more active lives.
