The men’s golf membership at Exeter Golf and Country Club is lively, competitive and a great way to meet other golfers.

With club competitions every Saturday, along with a busy calendar of tournaments and events, a Friday night ball draw and regular inter-county championships, our men’s membership welcomes all golfers, once you have a handicap under your belt.

Handicaps can be obtained by submitting 3 cards under the friendly guidance of our golf team and members. Our well-drained course means more year-round play than many of the neighbouring East Devon golf courses in the South West. The Men’s Golf Committee has a buddy scheme in place to make sure new golfers feel at home as quickly as possible.

WHY PLAY GOLF

Exeter Golf and Country Club golf heritage spans across decades of ages, from teenagers through to seniors. You’re never too old or too young to start, we have golfers who started as toddlers and golfers who are in their late 80s! Sometimes, you learn to play a little later in life, but one thing’s sure…once the golfing bug has bitten, you’re at it for life.

Golf for friendship

Golf is one of the most social sports. It also enables you to exercise and catch up with friends at the same time! Whether you play 7 holes for an hour or so, or play the full 18 holes over four hours, you can chat between holes, work off up to 900 calories and then relax with a swim or a glass of wine in the bar afterwards.

Golf’s unique handicap scoring system means that players of all levels can play together either socially or competitively – it’s a even playing field.

Golf for fitness

According to ‘Get Into Golf’, “Golf can help keep you active, burn calories, stay in shape, lower cholesterol, reduce the risk of heart disease and research shows it may even help you live longer. You can walk around 4-5 miles in the average game of golf, burn at least 900 calories and will take more than 10,000 steps, you will easily achieve the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week recommended by the NHS to keep healthy.”

Golf for getting outdoors

Top up your vitamin D with an hour or two in the sunlight. Exercising outdoors is a scientifically-proven way to help improve your mood, stress levels and self-esteem.

Golf for stronger bones

Help prevent osteoporosis and strengthen bones through the brisk walking and swinging action.

Golf for a great lifestyle

Golf offers a great lifestyle. The parkland course at Exeter Golf and Country Club has mature trees and views stretching across to Haldon Hill. With bars, award-winning Wear Park Spa and the use of heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools, with steam room, jacuzzi and sauna, your golf membership can really improve your lifestyle from a health, well-being and social point of view.

If you’re new to golf, simply book onto the next Get Into Golf course for just £50 and you’ll be golf-course-ready within a few months.

If you already play, signing up is simple if you have a golf handicap or experience. You can join online or book an appointment with our Golf Manager or Head Golf Professional and they will give you a tour of the golf course and talk you through our golf membership – you may even glean a top tip or two, if you’re lucky.

New golfers are provided with a Welcome Pack containing a membership card, bag tag and fixture card for the year, showing all the competitions and events.

The Golf Manager meets every new golfer for a coffee and an introduction to Intelligent Golf for online tee-time bookings and competitions, which can be accessed from your mobile device or desktop.

A welcome round of golf will follow with Golf Captains or Committee members.

Members enjoy a 20% discount on food and drink in the bars and restaurant and
10% off treatments in Wear Park Spa – great for a post-golf deep tissue massage maybe?
