The winter tennis, squash and racketball seasons have seen success within all three sports at Exeter Golf and Country Club.
The ladies racketball team, captained by Vic Viney, won division 1 of the Devon League for the first time. Winning eleven of their twelve matches across the winter the team improved on their second placed finish in 2015 to claim their first title.
Their tennis counterparts, captained by Juliet Chenery, won the top division in the Exeter and District Tennis League. Winning all of their fixtures, including the title-deciding final match against Seaton, the ladies A team secured the division 1 title by six points.
This completed a league double with the men’s A team also finishing top of division 1 for the ninth time in the last eleven years. With the new tennis courts opened at the end of 2015, the men’s team went on a run of five home fixtures in which they only dropped two points to climb from mid-table to the summit.
As well as the league successes, the squash second team were victorious in the Devon Plate competition. Captained by Conall Platts, Exeter Golf and Country Club beat Tiverton 4-1 in the final.
Congratulations to all of the members who represented the Club in any of the fourteen teams who competed throughout the winter season.
