New Yoga Classes

New yoga classes are available now at Exeter Golf and Country Club for members and the public. Local yoga instructor, Annelie Carver will be teaching Hatha Yoga and Yoga Conditioning at the club every Monday and Thursday, in addition to the long-standing yoga classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with Ann Oliver. Annelie also offers Parent and Toddler Yoga.

Annelie has been a Yoga Instructor since 2010, when she trained with Angel Ashwin and the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY). BWY is the Sport England recognised National Governing Body for Yoga and is a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance.

Having practised yoga since the age of 6, when Annelie mastered the ‘lion breath’ move with her parents, who were also keen practitioners. Over the years, Annelie has experimented with yoga style ranging from Hatha and Iyengar to Ashtanga, Kundlini and Vinyasa Flow.

Annelie qualifed at a Hatha yoga teacher with BWY in 2013. Annelie’s style of teaching incorporates the BWY teaching traditions of asana and pranayama into her classes but also brings her own distinctive style to her classes, largely influenced by ashtanga and vinyasaflow.

Annelie undertook a transcendental meditation course in 2013 and likes to incorporate a short meditation practice at the end of her classes to enable her students to experience the benefits of mediation.

Having recently set up Yoga for Children, Annelie is keen to encourage children and teenagers to try yoga and begin to feel the benefits which can last a lifetime. She is currently undertaking further study for teaching yoga to children and teenagers as well as toddlers and parents, which is already a class available at Exeter Golf and Country Club.  Annelie will be expanding her yoga classes for children, teenagers, toddlers and families at the club in the near future.

Class information is below also.

Annelie has developed a new style of yoga called Yoga Conditioning. Yoga Conditioning incorporates traditional yoga practices and dynamic sequences with a focus on improving posture, developing core strength, stamina and improving strength and flexibility in a wide range of muscle groups. These classes are particularly beneficial for those who practice sports and are looking for a form of cross-training and conditioning practice. The classes also incorporate breathing and relaxation practices which help develop concentration and focus.
