Meet the Spa Therapist – Kerry

Following on from our Meet the Spa Therapist last month, when we introduced Laura, and Amber our Spa Manager before that, now it’s time to point the spotlight at Kerry. Kerry is our massage specialist. She was the ESPA Therapist of the Month in May and her massages are regularly described as the ‘best massage I’ve ever had’ by her clients.

Favourite treatment

Hot Stones Full Body Massage. I have seen amazing results from this one treatment. The volcanic rocks stimulate your blood circulation breaking down toxins and heating your muscle tissue to enable a deeper massage to relax muscular tension. I believe hot stones make a massage 10 times more effective! I love the results and seeing my clients leave thoroughly relaxed and free from everyday tension and stress.

Favourite product

My favourite product would have to be the ESPA Pro Cleanser. My reasons for this are firstly it is the most effective cleanser I have ever used. Secondly, it is a gradual exfoliator. Thirdly, it is also a mask. All in all, it is the absolute best product for people who don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to their skincare regime in the morning and evening. I leave my Pro Cleanser on in the shower so my skin gets a super charged cleanse in the morning. The Pro Cleanser contains the moringa seed extract which cleanses and removes your make up whilst the multi- functional jojoba spheres gently exfoliate, melting to leave your skin clear, nourished and smooth. Finally, pumpkin enzymes gently dissolve dull cells, resulting in a healthy natural radiant glow. All you need is just in one bottle.

Summer essentials

The absolute best preparation for your holiday tan is the ESPA Skin Brush. Made from natural Mexican cactus bristles, this brush will literally last a lifetime. It eliminates toxins, removes dead skin cells and reduces cellulite. It stimulates a sluggish circulation instantly giving a lasting healthy glow. ESPA Optimal TriSerum applied to your body will give you an unrivalled smooth feeling and a suppleness you will notice. The tumeric root helps to even out pigmentation and skin tone, whilst the balloon plant soothes and calms the skin. It also contains seaweed which boosts collagen and elastin in your skin. As it is in a spritzer bottle it is very easy to use as and when you need it. I like to keep mine in my handbag so I can apply whenever I feel the need. It’s smells like absolute heaven as well.

Top Tips

If you have really sensitive skin like I do, and you also like swimming, I have the perfect solution to the irritation you experience from the chlorine. The ESPA 24 hour Skin Savior acts as a barrier preventing chlorine from drying out your skin. Just apply to the most sensitive areas on your face or body. It also treats cracked skin that is dry, sunburned or overexposed to heat, cold or urban environments with an intense surge of hydration. Meadowfoam and tamanu oils diminish the redness whilst soothing your minor irritations, whilst the evening primrose will soften the skin. Manuka oil and shea butter create a powerful barrier against the elements to lock in moisture and protect.

Winter Essentials

My winter essential is definitely ESPA Pink Hair and Scalp Mud. It is one of ESPA’s most multi-functional products. It is an amazing hair and scalp mask and deeply nourishing for any very dry and chapped areas of the skin making it ideal for the cold winter months. I like to apply some to my cracked heals it acts as a barrier and hydrates deep into the epidermis layers of the skin. Apply the hair and scalp mask to your hair and leave it on overnight or for 20 minutes, wash it out afterwards and your hair will be well nourished and left with a healthy looking shine. The mineral rich red clays deeply condition the hair leaving it soft and smooth. The vitamin C rich watercress and apricot kernel oil soothes and nourishes your scalp, while the red clay stimulates the circulation helping to boost growth and strength. Also this product is great for eczema and psoriasis, just apply to affected area and this will cool and soothe the area reducing the itching and redness.

Best moment in my career

There are two best moments in my career to date. The first was being told my massage was the best in the world by a male client who regularly travelled internationally and had experienced massaged at the best spas across the globe. In fact, I am often complimented on my massage and have many regular clients. I am regularly told that that my massage is the best, and I am very proud of that! I love performing massages and always find it amusing that people are so surprised at how firm my pressure can be as I am fairly slight in stature, let’s just say! My second best moment in my career was being awarded the ESPA Therapist of the Month earlier this year, just after Wear Park Spa won the Exeter Living ‘Best Beauty Award’.

What I love the most about Wear Park Spa

My colleagues! I am so lucky to work in such a talented team of spa therapists. Wear Park Spa has certainly brought out the best in us all and together we are a force to be reckoned with! Our Spa Manager, Amber is an inspiration to all of us as she is very caring but always pushes us to keep improving, keep achieving and strive to be the best.  Wear Park Spa has amazing views from the windows of our spa rooms. As beauty rooms or spas are often located in windowless, soulless rooms, this has been such a huge improvement for both us as therapists and for our clients. It’s so lovely to allow clients a view across the golf course, while they’re having their nails painted for instance – it’s a very tranquil and peaceful view. The windows have original shutters as well so for massages and facials, it’s lovely to be able to close out the world outside and create such an atmosphere of calm.
