Devon Alliance – East Devon Golf Club
Exeter Golf and Country Club stole the show last Thursday, when the Devon Alliance was held at East Devon Golf Club. With a chill factor of minus 5, ‘Yours Truly’ won the Professional Individual with a two under par 68. One shot behind, and just back from the Far East, was Chris Gill. In the Pro-Am event, Roger Worthington and I finished second with 40 stableford points. In the Am-Am event, Colin Wayman and Bill Seath were victorious with 39 points. A good day all round!!
Mail on Sunday
The Ladies’ first round of the Mail on Sunday was away at Woodbury Park. The team was made of Gill Newbery, Elaine Waldron, Annie Norman, Sue Gannon and Viv Worthington. Our ladies were victorious by 3 1/2 to 1 1/2. Annie and Viv had to give 9 and 8 shots and both won their matches. Elaine won 3 and 2 and Sue Gannon halved on 18th. The match was played in extremely cold weather, with a wind chill of -3. Viv would like to pay special thanks to the caddies.
Here’s hoping for a home draw in next round!!
Devon Captain’s Medal
Last Sunday, East Devon Golf Club hosted the second of the Captain’s winter series. With temperatures at 8.00am at minus 3, it was no wonder that the event was played on temporary greens. With a strong field, Max Burrow came out on top with a great score of 67 (3 under par) winning by 3 shots. In fourth place, with a 71, was Harrison Greenberry. Well done, chaps!
Have a great week!
