Ladies Medal 6
Tuesday saw the return of the dreaded medal. Despite difficult playing conditions, the day saw some fine scoring. The Silver Division was won by Gill Eveleigh with a nett score of 69. Lucy Greenberry came in second place with a 71, with Elsa Gent a further shot back in third place. Corinna Knowles and Daryl Southwell both had fantastic scores of 65, with Corinna winning the Bronze Division One on count back. Vera Anderson came in third place with a 70. Pat Roberts won the Bronze Division Two with a nett 67 beating Marilyn Jones by a single shot. Jenny Taylor was a further shot back in third place.
Saturday’s Men’s competition was won by Mark Hartley-Norton with a fantastic 41pts. This was good enough to win overall and beat Roy James by a single point for the Division One prize. Wayne Taylor came in third place with 39pts. Division Two also showed some great scores with committee member, Hilary Weatherley, winning with 40pts – beating David Hough on count back. Paul Williams came in 3rd place with 39pts.
The day saw thirty 2’s recorded – showing that a lot of good golf shots were being executed – however, Paul Kortland went one better with a hole in one. Congratulations, Paul!
Taunton and Pickeridge Pro Am
Last week, ‘Yours Truly’ returned to Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club for their annual Pro Am. In testing conditions, I am pleased to report that I gained second place – showing that there is still life in the ‘old dog’!
After successfully beating Bovey Castle last Sunday, our Palariet team have been drawn against Portmore Golf Club in the 4th Round. This match will be played at Tiverton Golf Club. This same fixture was played last year at the same venue. Portmore will be seeking a victory to even the score, so please come and support our team in their quest to retain the trophy. The match will be played on the 24th of July, with the first tee time 1pm.
