A career in Pool Management

Leisure jobs aren’t ‘just’ for the summer – it’s possible to make a lifelong career out of ‘having fun’.

Getting started in the leisure industry is easy. There are lots of part-time casual roles and with the right qualifications and experience, these can develop into a fulfilling career that enables you to work around the world. 

There are many pathways through different areas of hospitality and leisure at Exeter Golf and Country Club, with various apprenticeships and training opportunities.

For 2023, we are launching a new role focusing on a career in Pool Management.

With our pools being such an integral part of the club, it’s important that we have the right people looking after them. For that reason we want to invest in developing the right person for a career in Pool Management and Leisure.

Starting as a Lifeguard, the role will evolve along a pathway of fully-funded qualifications, from the initial training as a lifeguard (if not qualified already) and then onto swimming instructor courses (if of interest), through to plant room operations, leadership and swimming pool maintenance. We can tailor make the development opportunity to suit the successful candidate and work together.

The courses included are:

Lifeguard (NPLQ course)

Pool plant room  operations (PPO Level 3 course)

First aid qualification (FAW course)

Customer service

Team leading (National Pool Supervisor Qualification (NPSQ)

Swimming Instructor (SEQ Level 1 and 2 Teaching Swimming)

Assistant manager (NVQ level 3)

Pool manager (National Pool Management Qualification (NPMQ)

Please note all club facilities will be closed on Christmas Day (25th Dec) and Boxing Day (26th Dec).

Wear Park Spa will also be closed on Christmas Eve (24th Dec), New Year’s Eve (31st Dec) and New Year’s Day (1st Jan).
