About the role

As a members’ club, we know that it is people who make an experience exceptional so we’re looking for an exceptional Restaurant Supervisor to join our team at Exeter Golf and Country Club.

The Restaurant Supervisor will assist the Food and Beverage Manager and Assistant F&B Manager, while focusing on Wear Park Restaurant and the conferencing and events provision.

With Duty Manager level responsibility, this role will include opening and closing both the restaurant and function rooms while assisting with training and rotas, ensuring a high level of service delivery across the board. 

You will ensure that catering and refreshment requirements of our conference delegates are looked after in our meeting rooms and welcoming club members and non-members on a daily basis along with weddings, conferences and events.

With a range of food and drink areas, including the Members’ Bars, Wear Park Restaurant, Pool Hut and private rooms for meetings and events, the role is varied. The role will involve supervising teams to utilize quiet times, while stepping up the pace for the busier days.

The role requires excellent customer service, communication and organisation skills, an engaging coaching style and the flexibility to work across different areas of hospitality.

A can-do, lead-by-example attitude is essential – working with the Food and Beverage Manager to enhance the experience for customers and colleagues by developing the F&B team, building morale and finding ways to improve service delivery.

Self-motivation, a warm, welcoming and confident personality, attention to detail and a conscientious approach to Food Hygiene and delivering excellence, are all crucial for this role.

In return, the Restaurant and Events Senior F&B Supervisor will join a close, supportive team with many long-term staff members, use of the leisure facilities, free on-site parking and the opportunity to develop management and leadership skills.

 

Skills / Experience

Managing the restaurant, from maximising table bookings to communication with customers in person, online and via telephone
Managing room set ups, catering and refreshments for our events, from conference delegates to wedding guests
Liaising with the Sales and Events Team to ensure the highest standards are delivered to the exact requirements
Communicating goals and deadlines to team members
Planning workloads and delegating tasks
Creating a productive work environment for the team
Assessing team performance and providing feedback to employees
Assisting with training and coaching
Assisting with the daily operation of the organisation
Performing customer service functions, including interacting with customers and answering questions
Providing teams with information about recent developments, programmes and policy changes of management
Leading a team of staff by example, pitching in to help when necessary
Creating a welcoming environment for customers
Ensuring consistent, high-quality beverages are served to customers
Dealing with customer feedback and providing adequate solutions to customer complaints
Overseeing the cleanliness of staff and the physical bar area and paying attention to possible health hazards and regulation violations
