Personal Trainer achieves GP referral qualification

Helen Kukor, one of our Personal Trainers in theGym has now passed her Level 3 GP Referral course. But what does this mean for her and more importantly, what does it mean for our members?

According to recent studies ‘exercise can be just as effective as medication’ for treating certain diseases and doctors around the planet are being advised to prescribe exercise to people where possible instead of drugs or other forms of medication. The GP Referral course allows Helen to train people who have either been referred to exercise by their doctor, or who have one of the following conditions:

  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes Type 1
  • Diabetes Type 2
  • Simple mechanical back pain
  • Joint replacement
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Asthma
  • Osteoporosis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • COPD ( Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Hypercholesterolaemia

As we all know exercise is a vital part of staying healthy and preventing disease. Exeter Golf and Country Club now has the resources and experience to help ease the symptoms of the above conditions and in some cases reverse them completely.

Helen Kukor said, “‘The GP Referral course is the next stage in my development as a Personal Trainer and I’m extremely grateful to the Club for their help and support whilst completing the course. It now allows me to train to become a Level 4 Personal Trainer in a specialised sector, one of only a handful of Level 4 PTs in Exeter.”
