Welcome to the new General Manager of Exeter Golf and Country Club, Mr Chris Jones, who starts today.
Chris brings a wealth of hospitality and leisure experience from some of Devon’s premier hotels and country clubs and is passionate about consistently delivering excellence throughout the business.
Chris is looking forward to meeting the team and our members and will be out and about within the club over the next few days and weeks doing just that. In the meantime, here are a few words from Chris as an introduction.
“I am delighted to be joining Exeter Golf and Country Club today and I’m really looking forward to getting to know as many members, staff and guests as soon as possible. I promise I will use my 20 years of hospitality management experience to help make improvements from day one.
I have managed at two of the largest four star hotels in Torquay and I spent 13 years in Dartmouth managing the Royal Castle Hotel and the Dart Marina Hotel and Spa.
Many of my proudest achievements came at the Dart Marina.Overseeing a full refurbishment, being awarded a fourth AA star for the hotel, achieving two AA rosettes for my restaurant, purchasing the Floating Bridge Inn and the opening of Wildfire Bistro and an Elemis Spa are just a few of my fondest memories.
I also spent a year at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club about 10 years ago, but unfortunately that was the last time I swung a club, as managing hotels kind of got in the way of golf! However I am into many sports. I love to swim and gym when I can, I play badminton every week and I’ve recently played football in a 7 a side Veterans league. I’m also mad on winter sports as I’m a very keen snowboarder too.
I am the very proud father of three sons aged 7, 10 and 15 and they are very sporty too, they’re also really looking forward to coming to see where their Dad will be working!”
