Greetings from Gary

Laurie White Memorial Trophy
Last Saturday, the first order of merit event, the Laurie White Memorial Trophy took place. On a blustery day, the course was playing difficult. However, aided by the fantastic condition of the course, the scoring was of a high quality.

Martyn Luxton rose to the top with a fine net 65 beating Harvey Jones by a single shot. Third in Division 1 was Ian Plowman with a gross 72, net 68. The Division 2 category was a tight affair with Eric Minchin coming out on top with a net 68, beating both Bob Flower and Mike Shepherd on a better back nine. Max Burrow won the gross prize beating Ryan Mapp by a shot. Ryan’s round included two twos, one of three people to achieve this feat (M Gorman, J Money), and birdies on both 15 and 17.

Bank Holiday Stableford

Harrison Greenberry shot a new course record 62, last Monday, to win the Bank Holiday Stableford with 42 points and only winning with a better back nine from Saturday’s winner Martyn Luxton. Harrison’s scorecard read as follows:
3 4 4 3 4 2 4 3 4 = 31 3 4 2 4 3 4 3 4 4 = 31 = 62

What a fantastic score! Harrison has now reduced his exact handicap to plus 1.7 with a playing handicap plus 2!! Other notable scores were Tom Baillie and Sam Rockey both with 41 points. Well done to all the prize winners.

Daily Mail Foursomes
Keith Parnell and Ian Plowman are representing the Club in the Daily Mail foursomes. They have played two rounds already, away against Stover in the first round in which they had to give 3 shots. In a very tight match, they just came out on top by winning at the last. The second round was at home against Fingle Glen and playing against a scratch and a 4 handicapper, they received 3 shots. A convincing 4&3 win means they now face Enmore (away) in the 3rd round, to be played by the end of May.
