Mixed Open
Last week, we held our annual June Mixed Open. John and his team prepared the course magnificently and the weather held fine. The format was a Greensome Stableford which was won by Lyndon and Debbie Bent with a massive 42 points. Runners up were Helen Ballingall and Steve Jarman with 40 points.

Palairet Second Round Match
On an incredibly wet day last Sunday, Exeter took on Thurlestone in the second round of the Palairet Trophy at Torquay. I am delighted to report that we won 4-1 and will play the winners of Teign Valley versus Bovey Castle, whose match was postponed, in the next round. One notable achievement – not only did Jack Pascoe have an excellent debut, winning 5 and 4 with partner Stuart Jose, but for the history books, Jack is the third generation to represent Exeter in the Palairet. His Grandfather Jim and father Geoff represented EGCC before him! Well done, team Exeter!

South West Selection!
Harrison Greenberry represented Devon last week at South West Counties’ Week. With this, he receives his full County colours. He only lost two games all week – a very creditable performance. Harrison has now been selected for the Men’s South West team versus the Midlands to be played at Wrag Barn on the 15th October. Congratulations, Harri!

Seniors’ Past Captains Golf Day
This year’s annual Seniors’ Past Captains Golf Day pulled in 14 of the club’s finest and maturest. So far, between them, they have clocked up 1024 years, however, not all of them took part in the competition.

Club Chairman, Geoff Bush, won the trophy with 37 Stableford points with Bill Richardson and Dave Bagnall sharing second spot on 35 points.

Ladies Versus Police – by Viv
There was a riot last Thursday! Our ladies were victorious in the annual match against the Police – away at East Devon, the Police team’s home club. The ladies won 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 and the two matches that lost were both on the last putt on the18th. Well played and thank you to all the ladies who played in this very popular event. It’s great to bring home the trophy having not won since 2007.
